New Beginning after Easter

After some research and asking around I finally got the idea how to acoustically isolate my editing room. I am living in a typical, old building in Berlin, so the construction had to be light-weighted, because the walls are porous and cannot bear much weight.

17 panels of acoustic foam were bought (1 for messing up and 16 to build in), wires for the ceiling panels, wooden construction to drill in the walls and (as it turned out later) too much fabric.

The Easter weekend was the perfect time to invite two family members to Berlin to help me out. My multi-talented mother and her timber engineer boyfriend (the genius behind the easily reusable setup). The foam panels were really fragile to handle with and the sewing got really painful because of the thick glue layer. We used 3 little glue buckets, 10 meters of fabric and sewed 68 corners by hand.

After tree days of heavy ironing, gluing, sewing and drinking, we finally got the room acoustics that I have been missing. Not only does it look fantastic, but the sound now sounds richer and no longer penetrates through the walls.

I would like to thank the three hard-working helpers I had and my sound engineer of trust Julius Hofstädter for the great advice!
