Re: “Sklaverei in Italien - Yvans Kampf für Erntehelfer” (nominated)
We are happy and grateful that we were able to touch many other people with our film. The nomination for the German Human Rights Film Award honours us and we are proud of the appreciation!
The moving report of the ARTE Re: series "Sklaverei in Italien - Yvans Kampf für Erntehelfer" (engl. "Slavery in Italy - Yvan's struggle for harvest workers") by Katrin Sandmann and Fritz Schaap from 2018 was nominated for the category "Short Film" for the German Human Rights Film Award.
It's the year 2018 and we accompany the Cameroonian author and activist, Yvan Sagnet, in his fight against the slave labour in Italian agriculture. Himself stood in the fields picking cheap vegetables for a starvation wage and under inhumane conditions. We learn first-hand how harvest workers, like him at the time, suffered under the hurtful influence of the "Caporale" and how Yvan Sagnet intends to hold them accountable for their actions in court.
